Cancer and Careers Staff Comment:
Hi Jocelyn,
Thanks for writing to us. I’m sorry you’ve had so many challenges obtaining life insurance coverage. Although our expertise is not in insurance, we do know some other organizations and resources that can provide information and may be able to help. Our Guide to Insurance in the Legal & Financial section of our website includes some helpful information.
Our content partner, Triage Cancer, has a location resource directory that includes pertinent information by state: http://triagecancer.org/resources/stateresources. They also have a guide on life insurance (https://triagecancer.org/quickguide-lifeinsurace) and a Cancer Finances toolkit that provides more information on navigating life insurance issues.
Insure is an online insurance guide for consumers and includes topics of interest to cancer patients and survivors including long-term care, disability, Medicare settlements and both life and health insurance.
I hope this is helpful. You can also reach us at cancerandcareers@cew.org or 646-929-8032 if you have any additional work-related questions.
Kind regards,
Nicole Franklin
