Speaker
Rachel Becker, LMSW
Rachel joined Cancer and Careers in 2014 to lead accredited programming and serve as the organization’s senior in-house social worker. Over the last decade her role has expanded and now, as Deputy Director, Rachel supervises the Cancer and Careers program department, manages CAC’s direct services and provides day-to-day oversight of the organization’s budget. In addition, she continues to serve as lead social worker, and her expertise is regularly called upon to present on topics related to cancer and employment at community-based events and cancer conferences around the country.
Before joining Cancer and Careers, Rachel was Head of Client Services at CarePlanners (cofounded by Dr. Nancy Snyderman), where she designed and implemented a technology-based infrastructure for delivering and monitoring support services. Prior to that, she completed a fellowship in psycho oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and worked in a clinical capacity at the Jewish Child Care Association and New York Methodist Hospital.
Rachel holds a BA from Rutgers University and graduated summa cum laude with an MSW from New York University. She is a member of the Association of Oncology Social Workers, and a proud recipient of the Zelda Foster Fellowship in Palliative and End-of-Life Care.

Learning Objectives
- Attendees will be able to describe the impact of caregiving responsibilities on a caregivers job.
- Attendees will be able to identify best practices for information gathering and organization in order to create a plan for balancing work and caregiving responsibilities.
- Attendees will be able to give examples of strategies for caregivers to communicate at work, including disclosure and collaborating with supervisors and coworkers.
Credits Information
One (1) continuing education credit will be provided free of charge to eligible oncology nurses, social workers, and HR professionals upon approval from the agencies listed below.
Social Workers
- This program is approved by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work (Approval #0072) for 1 continuing education hour.
- Cancer and Careers, #1814, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Cancer and Careers maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 06/10/2023 – 06/10/2026. Social workers completing this course receive 1 continuing education credits.
Oncology Nurses
- Provider approved by the State of California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP 16673, for 1 continuing education credit per session.
HR Professionals
- Cancer and Careers is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP. This program is valid for 1 PDC per session for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP. For more information about certification or recertification, please visit www.SHRM.org.
