BBC News anchor Maryam Moshiri has been diagnosed with a blood cancer that will require continued treatment the rest of her life. One of those treatments is twice-monthly venesections which leaves Moshiri feeling "extremely unwell." Despite the side-effects, Moshiri still traveled to Rome for two weeks last year to cover the death of Pope Francis.

She is determined to continue working like she has for the the past 23 years at the BBC. “I love what I do. I love being where the story is...I don’t want to allow blood cancer to stop me from doing my work.”
