Pat Battle, co-anchor of NBC 4 New York's "Weekend Today in New York," announced in early January that she was going to be taking time away from work to focus on her treatment for triple negative breast cancer.

In a recent interview, Battle admitted she initially hoped to keep working through treatment saying, "I'm going to power through this. I wasn't even going to take off of work. I thought I'd get a wig, some makeup, a couple of vomit bags and Ill be okay, you know. And keep doing the show." Beyond the physical toll, Battle described how brain fog has slowed her down saying, “I was witty; my fast wit has come to a crawl” and that the diagnosis “has really affected my thinking, my brain, in ways I did not anticipate.”

NBC New York and viewers alike are awaiting her return, with the "Weekend Today in New York" co-anchors looking forward to having her back in the chair soon.
