Country singer-songwriter Joshua Ray Walker is about to release his first album since he received a colon cancer diagnosis in 2023. He found out the news of his diagnosis the day before a major career milestone of performing on Jimmy Kimmel Live. "It seemed like every time I had some big milestone in my career, there was some personal tragedy tied to it."

In 2024 Walker found out cancer had spread to his lungs, but continued to write music as a way of coping. The night before his surgery he was working saying, "Making music in the studio is my absolute favorite thing to do."
