Hannah Cottrell - September 2025
Matt Riddleston had spent 32 years working as a cancer nurse when he received his prostate cancer diagnosis. He initially brushed his symptoms aside and chalked it up to being tired. "Nurses, healthcare professionals, we think we’re immune to everything that we treat our patients for, so I didn’t even think of cancer at first."
Riddleston has continued to work throughout hormone therapy, chemotherapy and radiation. "I kind of think of myself as Matt the nurse and Matt the patient – I haven’t fully reconciled myself to Matt the patient just yet...I can be quite compartmentalized in my job and you have to be mindful that you don’t project your own feelings and emotions into it."
