Katherine LaNasa, star of the tv show 'The Pitt' was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer in 2023. In an exclusive done by ExtraTV, Katherine said she was inspired by the nurses who cared for her during treatment to bring authenticity to her role as nurse Dana. One moment that she took into account for her role was the comfort she felt from a nurse on one of her hardest days.

Reflecting on the connection between her health crisis and her work, Katherine shared, “To end up getting this job where all of the experience of having cancer really came into it… it felt like the reason to be that I get to play this role. Particularly my journey with the nurses — I brought all of that to Dana.”

She also revealed that stepping onto the set was daunting at first, but quickly became “something creative and fulfilling and something that I could offer back as a thank you.”
