Tiana Johnson - March 2022
Allison Getz has decided to balance her cancer treatment while continuing her job as Tax Assessor for Jefferson County, Texas. Earlier this year, she underwent brain surgery to remove a tumor, and now continues her treatment with chemotherapy and radiation five days a week. Getz, an elected official, has managed to carve out space for her professional life during treatments by working Monday mornings before her treatment and Friday afternoons after she is finished with radiation for the week. Getz has said, “I am so thankful to the hundreds of people that have reached out to offer their prayers and support…I plan to work as hard as I can to get better and continue to serve the community that I love."
