Joshua Rosario - March 2021
Jersey City Board of Education President, Mussab Ali, says he’ll continue working as he undergoes treatment for stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Ali, who was elected board president in January 2021, has already made history as the first Muslim elected to public office in Jersey City and the youngest at 24.
He announced his diagnosis during a public board meeting in March saying he wanted to be transparent about the personal battle he’s facing. He also underscored his commitment to his job stating, “To my constituents: being elected to serve you is the honor of a lifetime. There is nothing I would rather do at this time than serve our children.”
