Emily Shiffer - January 2021
After a breast cancer recurrence at 31, Malita Gardner had to make some major changes to her life. She reconfigured her priorities after realizing that her high stress job wouldn’t allow for the work-life balance she needed during treatment. Leaving her job at a non-profit to teach at her daughter’s pre-school was exactly the shift she needed so that she “could breath again.”
She says, “My advice to other survivors is to remember how precious your time is and prioritize what feeds your soul. I’m not saying that everyone must switch careers, but I do suggest everyone evaluates how they’re spending their days.”
