Vanessa - November 2014
The website When I Grow Up I Wanna Love What I Do features a series of stories about people who have started their own companies and/or found jobs since the 2008 recession. Recently it posted an inspiring story about a cancer survivor named Vanessa, who used a crafting habit to get through treatment, and ultimately turned it into a business. Vanessa shares how she took the experience of being diagnosed with cancer at age 25 and used it to create a career that she loves. She explains the challenges she faced with the diagnosis, treatment, and finding work and how all of this led to her establishing her own Etsy shop called Survival Organs.
Cancer can often be the impetus for career change. More information on this topic can be found here.
