Little League baseball has been a big part of Tom Sauer’s life for 39 years — and it seems nothing is going to change that. Not even stage 4 liver cancer. In a recent article and accompanying video on the IndyStar website, writer Autumn Allison explains that although the news of Sauer’s diagnosis caused a brief “pause” in his umping career, ultimately he felt he had to continue. Understandably, some days are difficult, but he’s managed to stay active and involved, which inspires those around him. As fellow ump Cameron Boffo says, “For him to battle through cancer and keep doing what he loves…he’s a hero to me.” For the full story, click here.
