NYC Department of Consumer Affairs - June 2014
The NYC Department of Consumer Affairs published a short video clip on their YouTube channel giving an overview of the new Paid Sick Leave Law in New York City. The new law is now in effect and applies to most employees in NYC, allowing them to earn up to 40 hours of sick leave each year for if you work more than 80 hours a year. This is significant both for patients/survivors and caregivers, as the law allows employees to take time off to care for themselves, but also to care for sick family members.
