Debra Jarvis - October 2014
A fabulous Ted Talk by Debra Jarvis explores how to define your own cancer experience, and how not to let others define it for you. Jarvis worked for 30 yrs as a hospital chaplain before being diagnosed with breast cancer. Her insights are very important for all aspects of survivorship, including work. Jarvis talks about her experience and how others tried to tell her how to feel about being a cancer survivor and how she needed to define it for herself, and later advising "claim your experience, don't let it claim you."
Check out "Recasting Yourself After Cancer" for more information on how to move away from the "cancer girl" or "cancer boy" label at work.
