Juliet Dragos - October 2014
Last October, "Good Morning America" anchor Amy Robach was diagnosed with breast cancer. This October, she made a trip to Grand Rapids for a Spectrum Health event, where she spoke with local news anchor Juliet Dragos about that diagnosis and the journey since. Robach credits her family - and her work - for getting her through treatment. In describing how these two aspects of her life helped get her through, Robach said:
" 'because having a purpose everyday to get up and not sit in bed and feel sorry for myself (and believe me, I had those moments)...I wanted to be strong for my kids and I wanted to be strong for our viewers, because it was very empowering for me to know that there were so many other women at home who had gone through this, or that were going through this, and we could all lean on each other...They told me that seeing me show up on the air everyday made them go. So it was just this awesome circle of empowerment and support, and I really felt it -- and I hope other people felt it too. I felt like I had a purpose, and that kept me going, and that got me through the really, really tough times.' "
