The Department of Labor (DOL)
The Department of Labor (DOL) provides a number of useful tools to help employers and managers navigate the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), including:
- The FMLA Employer Guide is designed to provide essential information about the FMLA, including information about employers’ obligations under the law and the options available to employers in administering leave under the FMLA.
- WH-380-E is a model certification form to ensure an employer gets the information the DOL determined is necessary in order for an employee to access leave under the FMLA. By using this form an employer protects itself from any accidental requests for information that go beyond the requirements of the law.
- WH-380-F is a version of the model form for people requesting time off as a caregiver.
