Kathy Flora, a human resources manager for the Congressional Research Service of the Library of Congress in Washington DC, assists managers within the organization to lead, motivate and reward CRS staff who provide non-partisan, authoritative research to Members of the US Congress.

Prior to joining CRS, Kathy was Managing Partner of Pivot Point Coaching, an executive coaching firm she founded with the mission to support cancer survivors as they deal with the inevitable career issues that may arise through their treatment and recovery.   Prior to this endeavor and during her own breast cancer treatment, she held the post of Vice President of the web-based division of an industry leading Career Transition consulting firm. For Thomson/DBM she led a staff of more than 100 professionally trained career coaches and support personnel based throughout the US.  She is an award winning program designer and a visionary leader with a passion for partnering with like-minded individuals to help them discover their life's purpose and meaning, and the best vehicle to fulfill that life purpose.

Her background encompasses over 20 years experience as a career counselor, coach and executive in academia and the corporate and government settings. Her community service contributions include 6 years as an elected State Representative for the New Hampshire House of Representatives where she focused her efforts on promoting legislation addressing issues of women's health and safety.

A strong collaborator and team developer, Kathy has spearheaded the creation of numerous web-based Career Management programs for a subsidiary of the Canadian based Thomson Learning organization including Career Transition webinars and coaching programs, Entrepreneurship, Management Training and Retirement Success programs.  Kathy has provided career related coaching and training programs for many Fortune 500 companies in a wide array of industries; touching the lives of thousands of individuals during their career transitions.

Kathy joyfully counts as one of her most important life achievement surviving and eventually thriving through her breast cancer treatment, recovery and beyond.  "No achievement in my professional career beats the exhilaration of coming out the other side of the breast cancer journey!"

She invests her volunteer time with CancerandCareers.org in response to her own life walk through fire that is Cancer.  Through this organization, she seeks to provide support, hope and faith in the future to professionals; assisting them to sustain and grow their careers, and regain their focus on the fulfilling life they have ahead.

Julie has delivered training programs and facilitated meetings for clients such as Time Inc., GE, Remy Cointreau USA, March of Dimes, Zotos International, New York Health Care Providers, New York Road Runners and The New York Open Center among others.

Coaching Services

Julie works closely with corporate managers and human resources to develop coaching programs that align with both the goals of the individual and the needs of the organization. Specializing in professional development and career management, Julie assists clients in developing and implementing realistic strategies and techniques and an action plan that supports these. Her coaching is customized to the individual's learning style, personality and specific needs. Julie uses a structured 360 process and various assessments she has designed.

Julie has coached individuals at companies including Sony Corporation, the Depository Trust and Clearing Company, Fitch Ratings, RBS Greenwich Capital, KPMG, Real Simple magazine, Time Warner and Nickelodeon. In her "retail" coaching practice she has worked with people such as an advertising television producer, a symphony president, a metals trader, a photographer, as well as numerous finance, marketing, sales, human resources and IT professionals.

Consulting Services

Julie's consulting services encompasses the redesign of performance management systems, the development of Management by Objectives (MBO) programs, customer service assessment and training and management and leadership training design. Additionally she helps companies create strategic plans.
